Digital Downloads: How They Work
Simply put, a digital download is an electronic file you get access to the second you check out. There’s no waiting on the mail carrier, no tracking numbers, and zero shipping fees. You just get a secure link, click it, and save the art or wallpaper straight to your device.
At Northlight, this usually means stuff like custom phone wallpapers, digital art packs, and high-res creative assets.
The Process (From Cart to Screen)
I keep it pretty simple so you can get your files and get on with your day:
-
Grab Your Gear: Add the digital items to your cart and check out normally.
-
Instant Access: The second your payment clears, a download link will pop up right there on your order confirmation page.
-
Check Your Inbox: I’ll also send an automated backup email with a secure link to your files. If you accidentally close your browser tab too early, don’t panic—the email has your back.
-
Save It: Click the link, download the file to your phone or computer, and it’s yours to keep.
A Few Quick Ground Rules
-
Where do the files go? If you’re on a computer, check your default "Downloads" folder. If you’re on a phone, look in your "Files" app (iOS) or "Files by Google" (Android).
-
Download Limits: To keep things secure and prevent link-sharing, the download links do have a cap on how many times they can be clicked (usually 3 attempts). Make sure you save the file permanently to your device or cloud drive on that first click.
-
The No-Refund Policy: Because you can’t exactly "un-download" a digital file once you have it, all sales on digital products are final.
Tech Troubles? Try This First.
Technology is great until it isn't. If something goes sideways, here’s the quick fix:
-
No email? Check your Spam or Promotions folder. Automated system emails love to hide in there.
-
Link expired or locked out? If you accidentally used up your download attempts before saving the file, just shoot me a message and I’ll send you a fresh link.
-
File won’t open on a phone? Make sure you're using an actual file manager app to view it, rather than just trying to preview it inside your web browser.
-
Cropped wallpaper? I optimize these for standard screens, but if your phone has a weird aspect ratio and the crop looks funky, hit me up. I’m happy to help you resize it so it fits perfectly.
